Whether she is trying out new fashion trends such as bird poop facials, giving up social media for the week or dumpster diving Lucie Fink is one millennial who has embraced her passions and turned them into a job.

Twenty-four-year-old Fink actively updates her YouTube series of five-day lifestyle challenges called “Try Living With Lucie” and “Lucie for Hire,” her other series of trying someone else’s job for the day.

Fink has a wide variety of interests and talents. She is a video producer, creative director, on-camera host and stop-motion artist.

Fink has made several guest appearances on “NBC’s Today Show” as a millennial spokesperson to discuss a wide range of topics relevant to her generation.

Fink currently works for Refinery29, a New York City based digital media company.

Fink graduated in 2014 from John Hopkins University with a degree in creative writing and a concentration in media. Her original plan was to become a neurosurgeon but she chose to focus on her true aspirations and pursue a career in the media world.

“I changed my major from neuroscience to creative writing as I wanted to focus on video production and work in the entertainment field,” Fink said. “I never really struggled with decisions about my future; I just always did what felt natural at the time.”

Fink said she never knew exactly what she planned to do with her life and still does not.

“I love so many different things – making stop-motion videos, taking photos, hosting video content, producing, writing and doing yoga,” Fink said. “ Each time I try a new experiment for ‘Try Living with Lucie’ I inspire myself to take on a new hobby.”

In a week’s worth of time Fink is either in front of the camera filming her five day challenges for her YouTube channel, generating content for Refinery29 to post on their website or snapchat and working on her stop-motion video projects for her personal website.

Fink said she always looked at her career path from a production-first approach. She wanted to master the skills associated with being a producer and truly know how to create content from the ground up.

Fink’s advice for college students wanting a career path similar to hers is to find something they are passionate about and constantly create.

“Don’t look too hard or force yourself to do anything you don’t want to,” Fink said. “Just do what you love and the rest will fall into place.”

If Fink could go back to give herself a piece of advice while in college, she would remind herself not to worry so much about finding the perfect job.

“I kept asking everyone I knew for advice, but the best advice is to just calm down, enjoy college and keep doing what makes you happy,” Fink said.

Right out of college, Fink began working at Ogilvy & Mather as an associate producer. She created content for brands like Philips and DuPont.

Fink’s current job entails designing content and producing videos for her lifestyle YouTube channel. Fink is also responsible for developing video content for Refinery29′s social media accounts.

“I created a bunch of different YouTube formats for Refinery29 (‘Try Living with Lucie’, ‘Lucie for Hire’, ‘The Curiosity Effect’, etc.), and I host and produce this content each week,” Fink said. “In addition, I create original pieces for Snapchat Discover, Facebook LIVE and more.”

Fink’s ability to take the things she is passionate about and turn them into a full-time job is what makes her so unique. She focused her creating, directing and editing skills and applied them to the many different videos she made and created a brand for herself.

Fink said she loves being able to interact with her fans and followers through social media.

“ I take all of my five-day challenge ideas from the comments section on YouTube, so I feel like we’ve built a great community,” Fink said.

Fink said there is no secret to her success and it all takes hard work and passion. She said she is constantly busy working on new content and engaging with fans. She is always look to build a larger fan base.

With quick access to several types of social media channels it can be difficult coming up with new and unique content. Inspiration can be hard to find in this digital age.

Fink finds inspiration in Piera Gelardi. Gelardi is the creative director and co-founder of Refinery29.

Fink has numerous achievements to be satisfied with at just 24 years old. Her one achievement she is most proud of is her role as a video producer.

“The on-camera stuff comes naturally to me, but learning how to be a producer was definitely challenging,” Fink said. “I’m proud of how well I’ve been able to work with a team and how successful my content has been on Refinery29’s channel.”
